Principal's Message

As most of you already know, my days are numbered as principal of Macdonald High School. On July 3rd, I will become the Centre Director of the West Island Career Centre. It is most certainly a bittersweet moment in my career, as I am eager to take on a new challenge, yet sad to leave a place that is so close to my heart.

First, I'd like to give recognition to the most dedicated and talented staff I have ever had the honor to work alongside. They are experts at their craft. Their high level of competence is equal only to their enthusiasm. They care so much about their students’ academic progression, their happiness, and their overall welfare. Rest assured that because of them, your children will remain part of an awesomely unique school where the educators will continue to educate them, listen to them, and help them through any difficulties and challenges they may encounter.

To you, the parent community; I am humbled by the amazing support you have given me throughout my tenure at Mac. You are a huge part of Mac’s successes due to your involvement and your good parenting skills. I can’t thank you enough for not only allowing me to make the pedagogical decisions that pertained to your children’s education, but more importantly, for entrusting me with your child’s safety and well-being. Having that type of responsibility on my shoulders was overwhelming at times, however, the rewards far outweighed any of the stresses. It was a privilege to work with you and your children.

That brings me to this wonderful bunch of Mac kids. Some of them are challenging and they made me upset at times. Most of the time though, they are helpful, intelligent, creative, kind and so funny!! The love and pride I feel towards them is immeasurable.

Thanks, kids, for being you. I have so much hope and faith in the future because it is you who will be reshaping our community, our country, and this ever shrinking world that we live in. I cannot wait to see what you will do with tomorrow.

Until our paths meet again, it is with a very heavy heart that I say good luck and bye for now.

Jad Deegan

It's all about the kids
